Educational Activities Our academic programs stress education, research, surgical technique and "hands-on" practical experience in both "real-life", clinical and surgical settings. Podiatry attends scheduled clinical conferences, seminars, workshops and lectures where both faculty and residents make formal presentations. In-House Educational Experiences Radiology/Imaging Conference is held every Tuesday, monthly beginning at 7:00 a.m. At this conference, residents select cases to present and discuss with the faculty and outside guest who may be in attendance. Externs also present selected topics for discussion and evaluation. Dr. Gerar Yu primarily leads this conference. In addition to Dr. Yu, Drs. Ronald Cohen and Jordan Grossman are scheduled to lead one conference per month. Pathology Conference is held every 2nd Tuesday monthly beginning at 10:00 a.m. An attending pathologist who presents pathologist tissue of interest to the podiatrist leads this conference. A multi-ocular microscope is used for this educational experience. Techniques Journal Club is held quarterly and led by Dr. Molly Judge. Selected articles are reviewed and discussed. General Journal Club is held monthly on every 3rd Tuesday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Michael Forman leads this activity. The Chief residents select 3-5 articles for reading and discussion. Another faculty member or practicing podiatric physician is usually invited to act as a facilitator to give practical information regarding these topics and to offer a broader perspective. Pharmaceutical companies or other vendors sponsor this event, which is held at an area restaurant. Dinner follows this educational event. McGlamry Review alternates with Guman Textbook Review & Article Review before each Radiology/Imaging Conference beginning at 6:30 a.m. The Chief Residents assign papers to review in the McGlamry textbook and in Dr. George Guman's trauma textbook or in Dr. Barry Scurran's textbook. Our goal is to cover the entire McGlamry text during the residents' three years of training.
Scientific Meetings, Seminars and Conferences Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine Evening Conferences are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the College at 6:00 p.m. Outstanding physicians are asked to present a wide variety of topics to an audience comprised of residents from all of the residency programs in the Cleveland area, externs, students and area podiatric surgeons.
