About Our Program

The Program
St. Vincent Charity Hospital, partnered with University Hospitals Health System, is dedicated to the education of podiatric students and residents. Under the leadership of Jordan P. Grossman, D.P.M., the program is recognized as one of the best in the country. It is currently a 3-year medical and surgical residency and is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a Podiatric Medicine & Surgery-36 (PM&S-36). The hospital is a member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Center Application Service Podiatric Residency Match (CASPR).

Our comprehensive three-year program includes:

  • A dedicated faculty who believe in mentoring the doctors of the future
  • An externship program for senior podiatry students
  • Residents who are published in medical textbooks and journals
  • A teaching Hospital with residency programs in several departments, including Podiatry, Clincial Pastoral Education, Dentistry and Internal Medicine.

Our Mission Statement

Established in 1999, the Podiatric Surgical Residency Program of St. Vincent Charity Hospital is a natural outgrowth of the Mt. Sinai Medical Center and its program of excellence chartered in 1986.

We inspire passion and purpose for the podiatric surgical practice and compassion for the patient with diseases, disorders and deformities of the foot, ankle and lower leg. We are vigilant in providing competent and meticulous care. Our commitment and dedication to developing the hearts and minds and skills of our podiatric surgical residents remain steadfast. Our graduates proudly earn the right and respects as:

CLINICIANS: competent and knowledgeable of the science and the art of medicine and surgery including the skills of evaluation, assessment, consultation, communication and treatment.

SURGEONS: competent and able to skillfully execute the procedures and techniques of surgery required for the management of diseases and disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg.

EDUCATORS: willing and able to share concepts, techniques, information and experiences through multiple communication mediums, including lectures, publication, practical demonstrations and workshops.

HUMANITARIANS: committed to practicing and providing professional services to all persons without regard to race, creed or financial background; who by example and education have been instilled with the qualities of leadership, humility and compassion and the values of integrity, respect and dignity.

At St. Vincent Charity Hospital, we inspire excellence by example so that our future generations of highly skilled podiatric surgeons continue our long tradition of quality patient care.

St. Vincent Charity Hospital's Mission Statement

Faithful to the philosophy and heritage of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, the St. Vincent Charity Hospital/Saint Luke's Medical Center family is committed to the healing mission of Jesus. As Caregivers, we serve with: a deep respect for the dignity and value of all persons, our practice of quality care, our dedication to the poor, and our commitment to education.
